Colonel Sophia Qureshi – SIT to Investigate Vijay Shah Case, Supreme Court Says: “Apology Not Accepted”

The Supreme Court has strongly criticized Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah over his remarks about Colonel Sophia Qureshi, stating that he should have thought before making such indecent comments.

The court further announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising three IPS officers, one of whom must be of IG or DGP rank. All members must be from outside the state. The Supreme Court emphasized that this is a litmus test and it expects the state to submit the SIT report directly to the court. The court stated it will be closely monitoring the progress.

The Supreme Court directed the DGP of Madhya Pradesh to form the SIT under the leadership of an IG-rank officer by 10 AM on Tuesday.

“The Entire Nation is Ashamed of You” – Supreme Court

The court added that India is a country that believes in the rule of law, regardless of the person’s status—be it high or low. Judges do not hold prejudice against anyone. No one will suffer any harm due to this court’s order.

“The entire nation is ashamed of you. It is up to you how you choose to correct yourself,” the court remarked. It further stated that it has not issued any prejudicial directives, and it is incorrect to say that the High Court has declared the minister guilty.
