Hockey India Announces Junior Women’s Team for Four-Nation Tournament; Goalkeeper Nidhi Named Captain

New Delhi – Hockey India on Saturday announced a 24-member Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team for the upcoming Four-Nation Tournament to be held in Rosario, Argentina from May 25 to June 2. Goalkeeper Nidhi has been named the captain of the team, while Hina Bano will serve as the vice-captain.

The tournament is considered a crucial preparatory event for the upcoming FIH Junior Women’s World Cup, scheduled for December 2025. Participating teams include India, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, with each team set to play two matches against every other team. The event offers India a valuable opportunity to test team strategies and strengthen squad combinations.

Indian junior women’s team coach Tushar Khandker emphasized the importance of the tour, saying, “Through this tournament, we aim to identify our best players as the Junior World Cup is just six months away. The international exposure will greatly aid in the development of these young athletes.” He also added that the performances in this tournament will be key in preparing players for future inclusion in the senior national team.

India will begin its campaign against Chile on May 25, followed by matches against Uruguay (May 26), Argentina (May 28), Chile again (May 30), Uruguay (June 1), and Argentina (June 2).
