KYIV: A deadly Russian drone attack on the northern Ukrainian city of Pryluky claimed the lives of at least five people, including a one-year-old child, overnight Thursday, according to regional governor Viacheslav Chaus. Six others were injured and hospitalized after six Shahed-type drones struck residential neighborhoods, causing extensive damage to homes.
The strike came just hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had “very strongly” warned of retaliation following recent Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian military airfields.
Later the same morning, another wave of Russian drone attacks targeted Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, injuring 17 people. Among the wounded were children, a pregnant woman, and a 93-year-old woman, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said on Telegram.
At approximately 1:05 a.m., drones struck two apartment buildings in the city’s Slobidskyi district, sparking fires and destroying multiple vehicles.
“By launching attacks while people are asleep in their homes, the enemy once again reveals its strategy of cowardly terror,” Syniehubov wrote.
