On the first trading day of the week, Monday, the stock market opened on a strong note. The BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 466 points at 82,187.08. Similarly, the NSE Nifty surged by 138.20 points to open at 24,991.35.
Among the top gainers are stocks like POWERGRID, NTPC, M&M, ULTRACEMCO, ICICIBANK, and TATAMOTORS, which are showing significant upward momentum. On the other hand, only one stock, InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo), is trading lower. Banking sector stocks are also witnessing strong gains today.
Last week, the BSE Sensex (comprising 30 major stocks) had declined by 609.51 points, while the NSE Nifty had closed 166.65 points lower. However, the market made a strong comeback on Friday. Due to heavy buying in major companies like Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and ITC, the domestic stock market closed higher.
On Friday, the Sensex jumped by 769.09 points to close at 81,721.08, while the Nifty surged by 243.45 points to close at 24,853.15. Notably, 29 out of the 30 companies listed on the Sensex closed with gains.
